The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a service group that brings together individuals of similar interests to share in fellowship and to use their time and talents to produce hand-crafted shawls. These shawls are made with prayer to help spread the message of God’s mercy, love, and compassion.
Since its inception in 2011, the St. Jude Prayer Shawl Ministry has distributed over 350 Prayer Shawls to both parishioners and non-parishioners, either individually or at healing masses, nursing homes, and spiritual and healing retreats.
This ministry benefits both the parish community and the greater community. As ministry members, we benefit from the comradery of our knitting circle community and the joy of giving spiritually-based comfort to others.
Meetings are held monthly. Individual members work on their shawls at meetings and also on their own at home, at their own pace.
We welcome all knitters (and crocheters!) and also encourage people to inform us if anyone they know would benefit from a shawl and the love and prayers that go into it.
“Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God.” (Isaiah 40:1)
