This exquisite resting place for Jesus in His Eucharistic Presence was custom designed locally and crafted in Rome. Made of bronze, the inside is inlaid in gold and the outside is inlaid in silver and gold with ancient Christian symbols: the cross of Christ on the front, St. Jude Thaddeus on the right, and a pelican on the left. The pelican mother was believed to pierce her flesh to nourish her children with her own blood in times of need. This was considered a symbol of Christ nourishing us with His own Blood. The tabernacle stand is made of marble and European Beechwood to repeat the theme of the rest of the church's design.
