Last Christmas, I published a short note in our parish bulletin expressing my gratitude for the great gift of my first assignment - being here at St. Jude Parish! During this Easter season, I would like to continue this tradition.
Easter brings new life and I believe that there are graces of resurrection being offered to us even in these most difficult and trying times. This first year of priesthood has shown me more unexpected, grace-filled moments than I could have ever thought or imagined. The current pandemic certainly tops the list! This has led me to want to share a single thought with you. Easter shows us that the most unpredictable circumstances can bring about truly good news. The darkest situation can give way to light. The grave can become a sign of hope.
Thank you for being that light in my life. Thank you for filling my priesthood with a sense of renewal and hope. I kindly ask you to pray for me as I enter my second year of priesthood. I remain committed to be the servant and priest that you deserve and that God wants me to be.
Easter continually shows us that the best is always yet to come. If things seem bad, just wait three days and trust in the timing of God. I look forward to seeing you all again soon in person. Please be assured of my continued prayers and gratitude for all of you.
